Durango, Colo. — The Westminster women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season on a high note, earning a convincing 14-4 conference road win over Fort Lewis College on Friday afternoon.
After falling behind early, Westminster (record) quickly found its rhythm, scoring 14 of the next 17 goals to cruise to victory. Lexi Segaline led the Griffins' attack, finishing with five goals and two assists, while Olivia Petrosky added a hat trick and two assists of her own.
Westminster used a strong second and third quarter to take control, outscoring the Skyhawks 9-2 over those periods. Segaline and Petrosky combined for six of those goals, while Jordan Williamson, Grace Szwedko, Ava Deakins, and Lilliana Montano each added tallies.
In goal, Gabriella Cheminant and Kaelyn Hart shared time between the pipes. Cheminant earned the win with four saves in the first half, while Hart made seven stops and allowed just one goal the rest of the way.
The Griffins now turn their attention to postseason play as they await the announcement of the RMAC Tournament bracket.
