Westminster Closes Missouri Road Trip with Win Over Rockhurst

Kansas City, MO – The Westminster Griffins women's lacrosse team capped off a grueling three-game weekend in Missouri with a hard-fought 8-7 victory over Rockhurst University on Saturday morning. The win secured a 2-1 record for the Griffins on their road trip as they now return to Utah with momentum heading into RMAC play.

After a slow start in the first half, Westminster trailed 5-2 at halftime. Rockhurst controlled the early pace, scoring three unanswered goals in the second quarter before Olivia Petrosky's goal in the final minutes trimmed the deficit before the break.

But the Griffins responded in the third quarter, dominating with a 5-1 scoring run. Jordan Williamson, Holly Shoughro, and Shaina Shoughro led the charge as Westminster stormed back to take a 7-6 lead heading into the final period.

With the score tied at 7-7 late in the fourth, Williamson delivered the game-winning free position goal with just 1:33 remaining, sealing the dramatic victory.

What's Next

The Griffins will stay in-state for an exhibition matchup against Utah Valley University on March 8 before heading to Colorado Springs for their first RMAC conference game against UCCS on March 14.
