Griffins Battle, But Fall Short Against Regis

Salt Lake City, UT – The Westminster Women's Basketball team returned home for an RMAC conference clash against Regis on Thursday night. Despite a strong offensive effort, the Griffins came up short, falling 82-73 in a back-and-forth contest at Behnken Field House.

The game saw six ties and 12 lead changes, with Westminster surging in the second quarter to outscore Regis 25-21, cutting the deficit to just three at halftime. However, Regis pulled away late, sealing the victory with a balanced offensive attack.

Griffin Standouts:

  • Teuila Nawahine led Westminster with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting while adding six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
  • Za'kkria Robinson contributed 12 points and six rebounds, shooting an efficient 6-of-8 from the field.
  • Olivia Tausinga knocked down three three-pointers en route to an 11-point performance, adding four assists and four rebounds.
  • Kayla Javillo and Maunayia Harrigfeld each chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Westminster shot 43.7% from the field and outscored Regis 38-28 in the paint, but Regis capitalized from beyond the arc, hitting 11 three-pointers at a 34.4% clip.

Regis:

  • Athena Zaragoza led the Rangers with 21 points, connecting on six three-pointers while grabbing three rebounds and three steals.
  • Erin Fry controlled the tempo, scoring 17 points and dishing out a game-high nine assists, while also pulling down eight rebounds.
  • Fiona Snashall added 14 points and nine rebounds, shooting 50% from the field.
  • Jessica Bollwahn was dominant inside, recording a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
  • Addison Branscum provided a spark off the bench, scoring 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
