Salt Lake City, UT – The Westminster Men's Basketball team battled until the final buzzer but came up just short, falling 75-72 to Regis in a closely contested RMAC matchup on Thursday night at Behnken Field House.
The game saw five ties and nine lead changes, with Westminster shooting an impressive 51.8% from the field and 50% from three-point range. However, Regis countered with 13 three-pointers and 77.8% free throw shooting, edging out the Griffins in the final minutes.
Griffin Standouts:
- Donaval Avila led Westminster with 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals, shooting 7-of-15 from the field.
- Ryan Rubenskas had an efficient night, scoring 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while adding four rebounds and two assists.
- Tommy Ball knocked down four three-pointers, finishing with 14 points and three assists.
- Simon Akena contributed nine points, five assists, and three rebounds.
The Griffins controlled the paint, outscoring Regis 36-22 inside, and capitalized off turnovers with 21 points.
Regis Standouts:
- Eddy Egun led all scorers with 19 points, shooting 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and adding five free throws.
- Trey Bryant was a perfect 5-of-5 from deep, finishing with 18 points and six rebounds.
- Chase Mayo Harmon added 15 points, making key free throws down the stretch.
