St. Augustine, Fla. – The Westminster Griffins men's lacrosse team wrapped their weekend road trip in Florida with a 17-10 loss to Flagler College on Sunday morning. Despite a strong offensive effort from Sean Gragnola, who netted five goals, the Griffins could not keep pace with the Saints.
The game remained even through the first quarter, with both teams scoring three goals apiece. However, Flagler surged ahead in the second, outscoring Westminster 5-1 to take an 8-4 lead into halftime. The Saints continued to extend their advantage in the second half, securing the victory with a 9-6 scoring edge over the final two quarters.
Gragnola led Westminster with five goals, while Camden Rossi added two. Duke DeVault and Luke Sillstrop each contributed one goal. The Griffins held an advantage in faceoffs, winning 20 of 31, but struggled with turnovers, committing 34 compared to Flagler's 15.
Flagler was paced by Beau Howard and Jack Pilla, who each recorded hat tricks. The Saints' defense proved to be the difference, causing 27 turnovers while holding Westminster to just 10 goals on 33 total shots.
