CSU-Pueblo Defeats Westminster

Pueblo, CO – The Westminster Griffins Women's Basketball team was back in action this afternoon as they traveled to take on the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves. Despite their efforts, the Griffins were unable to secure back-to-back wins, falling 76-42 in a tough road contest. The loss moves Westminster to 4-16 overall and 3-9 in RMAC play, while CSU-Pueblo improves to 13-7 overall and 8-4 in conference action.

The Thunderwolves set the tone early, jumping out to a 15-7 lead after the first quarter. Westminster found some rhythm offensively in the second quarter, scoring 19 points behind strong play from Teuila Nawahine and Maia Rhay, but CSU-Pueblo's efficient shooting allowed them to extend their lead to 40-26 at halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Griffins struggled to regain momentum, managing just 4 points in the third quarter as Pueblo's defense tightened. The Thunderwolves continued to pull away, outscoring Westminster 21-12 in the final frame to secure the victory.

Teuila Nawahine led the way for the Griffins, finishing with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals in 27 minutes of action. Maia Rhay added 7 points and 2 assists, while Za'kkria Robinson contributed 6 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.

For CSU-Pueblo, it was Alisha Little who stole the show with a dominant performance. Little posted a game-high 33 points, shooting an efficient 11-of-16 from the field and a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. She also pulled down 15 rebounds, completing a monster double-double. Genesis Sweetwine provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and 6 rebounds, while Landri Hudson chipped in with 8 points.
