COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Westminster women's basketball closed its RMAC road trip on Saturday with an 82–45 loss to UCCS at Gallogly Event Center.
The Griffins battled through a cold start, trailing 22–8 after the first quarter, but responded with 21 points in the second to pull within 39–29 at halftime. UCCS reclaimed control out of the break, outscoring Westminster 19–11 in the third and 24–5 in the fourth behind efficient shooting and 22 points off turnovers.
Teuila Nawahine led the Griffins with 12 points, adding 4 rebounds, a steal, and an assist. Ellie Mitchell scored 10 points with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and a team-high 3 steals across a team-leading 39 minutes. Marli Reed provided 8 points off the bench, knocking down 2–4 from three, while Alisi Peaua added 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
Emily Evans anchored the interior with 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 points, and Klowie Pike added 5 points and 2 steals.
Westminster finished 18–52 (34.6%) from the field and 5–19 (26.3%) from three while collecting 32 total rebounds, including 26 defensive boards. The Griffins produced 13 points off turnovers, 12 fast-break points, and 14 bench points.
UCCS countered with 50% shooting (33–66), 6 threes, and a 40-point bench performance.
Westminster (2–4, 0–2 RMAC) returns home next week to continue conference play.
