SALT LAKE CITY — Westminster women's basketball returned to Behnken Field House on Thursday night but came up short in a 78–62 loss to Colorado School of Mines in RMAC play.
The Griffins opened strong and led 17–16 after the first quarter before Mines used a pair of efficient middle quarters—outscoring Westminster 19–17 in the second and 26–13 in the third—to take control. Westminster shot 36.9% (24–65) from the field and 33.3% (7–21) from deep while finishing with 27 rebounds, 13 points off turnovers, and 11 fast-break points.
Ellie Mitchell powered the Griffins offensively with 19 points on 7–14 shooting, including 3–7 from three, while adding 5 assists and 2 rebounds. Teuila Nawahine followed closely with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assists. Madison Anderson added 8 points and 4 rebounds in 16 minutes, and Emily Evans posted 7 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.
Makeili Ika provided 4 points, 2 assists, and a steal, while Achol Daw contributed 3 points and 2 rebounds. Klowie Pike added 2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal, and Nisa Ellis recorded 1 point and 4 rebounds.
Mines shot 50.0% (31–62) from the field and 59.1% (13–22) from three, led by Sofia Baldessari's 24 points and Jenna Shandy's 17. The Orediggers generated 19 bench points and 13 second-chance points, pulling away in the second half.
