Griffins Pull Away in Second Half to Defeat Colorado School of Mines, 87–70

Westminster men's basketball used a balanced offensive attack and strong bench production to secure an 87–70 victory over Colorado School of Mines on Thursday night at Behnken Field House. The Griffins led 42–31 at halftime and outscored the Orediggers 45–39 in the second half to earn their first home RMAC win of the season.

Westminster shot 54.1% (33–61) from the field and knocked down 13 three-pointers at a 48.1% clip, while also generating 24 points off turnovers and 42 bench points.

Michael Fraizer led the Griffins with 15 points on 7–12 shooting, adding 5 rebounds. Mitch Jeppesen matched Fraizer with 15 points, finishing 5–9 from the floor and a perfect 4–4 at the free-throw line, while pulling down 5 rebounds. Tommy Ball added 14 points, hitting 4–9 from three, and Jake Nadauld chipped in 9 points with 4 rebounds.

Westminster opened the game with strong perimeter shooting, going 9–18 from three in the first half, and extended the lead to as many as 26 points late in the second half. The Griffins finished with a 30–22 rebounding advantage and added 17 fast-break points.

Colorado School of Mines was led by Markus Pastorcic-Straun's 15 points, while Kellon Johnson and Derek Lamb added 12 and 11 points.

With the win, Westminster improves to 6–3 overall and 1–2 in RMAC play, continuing conference action on Saturday.
