GUNNISON, Colo. – Westminster women's soccer came from behind to earn a 1–1 draw at Western Colorado on Friday night at Katy O. Rady Field.
Western Colorado (0-8-2, 0-1-2 RMAC) opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Sarah Connolly finished a pass from Tawny Roberts to give the Mountaineers a 1–0 lead.
The Griffins (3-0-4, 0-0-3 RMAC) kept pressing throughout the second half and finally broke through in the 82nd minute with the equalizer to level the match at 1–1.
Westminster outshot Western Colorado 12–6 overall, including a 7–4 advantage in shots on goal. The Griffins also held a 4–3 edge in corner kicks while Mountaineer goalkeeper finished with seven saves to preserve the draw.
Both sides picked up fouls in a physical second half, with Western's Caitlin Mazurek shown a yellow card in the 83rd minute.
Westminster will continue RMAC play on the road this weekend.
