Salt Lake City, UT - The Westminster Griffins Men's Basketball team opened the second half strong, going on a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 20 points. However, Western Colorado University mounted a steady comeback, chipping away at the deficit and ultimately overtaking the Griffins late in the game. The Mountaineers secured an 84-80 victory after taking their first lead of the second half at 80-77.
Simon Akena led the Griffins with a stellar performance, scoring 25 points and adding a block. Donaval Avila contributed 17 points, four steals, and six rebounds, while Parker Christensen added 14 points and two assists.
For Western Colorado, Trey Anderson was instrumental in the comeback, hitting five three-pointers, including a crucial shot that gave the Mountaineers a late lead. Anderson finished with 19 points, while Amar Rivers added 17 points to seal the victory.
