Golden, CO – The Westminster Griffins Volleyball team started their road trip this weekend with a tough five-set match against Colorado School of Mines on Friday night. Despite winning the first two sets convincingly (25-16, 25-13), the Orediggers rallied back, winning the third set 26-24 before taking the fourth and eventually the fifth in a tightly contested final set. The Orediggers' late surge snapped the Griffins' four-game winning streak.
Claire Cook led Westminster with 15 kills, while Breegan Huntsman and Hailey Killett added 13 each. For Colorado School of Mines, Hannah Kinnison had an impressive 19 kills to lead all players. Josie Gerritsen dished out 24 assists, with Leila Cornejo adding 20, though Mines' Presley Powell topped the stats with 37 assists on the night.
On the defensive end, Regan Jackson and Mailei Myers led the Griffins with 3.0 blocks each.
