Salt Lake City, UT – The Westminster Griffins Women's Soccer team made their home opener an enjoyable one on Sunday afternoon, securing a 2-0 victory over Saint Martin's University in front of an energized crowd at Dumke Field. Both of Westminster's goals came in the second half, allowing them to pull away and earn their first home win of the season. The first goal was scored by Hannah Holmstead which was assisted by Kim Hendrickson in the 53rd minute of action, the six minutes later the Griffins hit the back of the net once again this time by Chloe Pickett who was assisted by Necie Gubler.
Brooklyn Northcutt played the full 90 minutes in goal and secured the clean sheet to help seal the victory.
The Griffins controlled the game from start to finish, registering
25 total shots (13 on target), while holding Saint Martin's to just
2 shots (1 on goal).
After today's win, Westminster will hit the road again to take on Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID, on Saturday, September 21, with kickoff set for 3:00 PM.
