Westminster Women’s Volleyball Looks to Continue Success as 2024 Season Begins

As the Westminster Women's Volleyball team gears up for the 2024 season, the Griffins are building on a foundation of recent successes, including their first-ever appearance in the RMAC tournament last season. Over the past few years, the team has seen several records broken, reflecting their growth and determination.

Mailei Myers has been a standout in blocking, securing her place in the Griffin record books. During her freshman year she was the Griffins top blocker and has found a place in volleyball history as she ranks 4th with  .72 blocks per set. She outdid herself during her sophomore year as she moved up two spots to 2nd with .94 blocks per set. Myers also holds the 2nd spot for solo blocks with 51 and ranks 4th in total blocks with 159. Her consistency in solo blocks is notable, with 25 in 2022 (9th place) and 26 in 2023 (tied for 7th place). Additionally, she achieved the 2nd highest attack efficiency in 2023, with a .279 percentage.

Leila Cornejo has been a key player in aces and assists. In 2022, she tied for 3rd with 30 aces, averaging .33 aces per set. The following year, she tied for 9th with 25 aces averaging .25 aces per set. She is the team's leading ace scorer the past two seasons.  Cornejo's total assists for 2022 and 2023 combined reached 1,212, placing her 5th overall after two seasons with the Griffins.

Claire Cook made her mark with an attack percentage of .220, placing her 5th in the records.

Abby Reardon secured 6th place in digs per set for 2023 with an average of 3.49.  Abby is the currently dig leader for the program.

Alanna Lee made a strong showing in 2022, ranking 3rd in digs per set with an average of 3.83.

Breegan Huntsman rounded out the top performers with a 7th place finish in digs per set in 2023, averaging 3.09.

Honoring Last Year's Graduates
Two standout graduates from last year also left their mark on the program:
Avery Alger delivered an impressive attack percentage of .228 in 2022, securing 4th place.
Olivia Curtis shined in 2023, tying for 3rd with a .249 attack percentage and ranking 7th in kills per set with an average of 2.79.
