Salt Lake City, UT - In a thrilling Sunday afternoon showdown, the Westminster University Women's Lacrosse team hosted the #7 ranked Rangers of Regis University. Despite a valiant effort, the Griffins ultimately fell short as the top-ranked Rangers secured a hard-fought 17-12 victory on Dumke Field in Utah.
The game saw Westminster facing an uphill battle, trailing by nine goals and being held scoreless in the third quarter. However, the Griffins staged a remarkable comeback in the fourth quarter, igniting the crowd with an impressive six-goal streak. Goals from Olivia Petrosky, Jordan Williamson, Hannah Kellenher, Maddie Kelenher, and Shaina Shoughro fueled the Griffins', bringing them within three goals of the Rangers.
Despite the six goals hitting the back of the net in a row, the Rangers managed to stave off the Griffins' challenge, adding two late goals to secure the victory.
Shoughro and Petrosky led the charge for Westminster, each contributing three goals to the team's efforts. Their standout performances epitomized the Griffins' resilience and determination throughout the game.
