PUEBLO, Colo. - The Westminster Griffins Men's Golf team faced a formidable test at the Southern Colorado Masters over the weekend, where they showcased resilience and determination despite tough conditions. Battling wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph, the team demonstrated their competitive spirit and finished in sixth place on the team leaderboard.
Leading the charge for Westminster was Bryson Hirabayashi, who delivered a solid performance to claim the top spot on the player leaderboard with a +6 score. Not far behind were Nic Jensen and Andrew Ahlstrom, who finished tied for 24th with a +11 score each. Hayden Howell also contributed valiantly, finishing tied for 38th after the rounds concluded.
Reflecting on the challenging conditions, Coach David Tottori emphasized the team's perseverance and ability to adapt. "The conditions of the course were challenging this week," noted Tottori. "It was good to see the guys grind through and have good rounds, but we also know what we need to work on to be at our best for the RMAC Championships next week."
With their sights set on future success, the Griffins now shift their focus to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, scheduled for April 21-23 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada. As they prepare to compete on a new stage, the team remains committed to refining their skills and striving for excellence in the upcoming tournament.
