Salt Lake City, UT – The Westminster University's Women's Lacrosse team kicked off their 2024 season on home turf today, facing off against Colorado Mesa. After a series of road games, the Griffins were eager to make a to be back in front of their home crowd. However, despite their efforts, they fell short, suffering a 14-6 defeat to the Mavericks at Dumke Field.

Leading the charge for the Griffins was Shaina Shoughro, who notched two goals in the match. Additionally, four other Griffins contributed to the scoreboard, showcasing the team's offensive depth. Despite facing an early three-goal deficit, Shoughro's goal provided a spark for Westminster, marking their first home goal of the season.
