Salt Lake City, UT – Claire Cook led the Westminster Griffins with 11 kills on Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough to overcome the No. 18-ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks, as the Griffins fell in four sets. Mailei Myers and Breegan Huntsman contributed seven kills each for Westminster, while the Mavericks were paced by Sydney Leffler's 17 kills and Sierra Hunt's strong performance.
The Griffins kept each set competitive, falling 25-21 in the first set and narrowly losing 26-24 in the second. Westminster bounced back with a dominant 25-15 win in the third set but dropped the fourth set 25-17, sealing the match for the Mavericks.
Leila Cornejo led the Griffins with 20 assists, while Myers posted a team-high and game-high 3 blocks on the defensive side.
Next, the Griffins will host Western Colorado University on Friday night inside Behnken Field House. The first serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM. Fans can purchase tickets in advance at WestminsterGriffins.com or catch all the action on the RMAC Network.
