Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

California State University Monterey Bay Edges The Griffins

Seaside, CA - The Westminster Griffins men's soccer team concluded their California weekend campaign, but Sunday afternoon saw them narrowly edged out by California State University Monterey Bay with a final score of 2-1.

The game's first goal came in the 30th minute when California State University Monterey Bay found the back of the net, slipping the ball past Roark Looney, who was guarding the goal for Westminster. However, the Griffins quickly responded. Just eight minutes later, a penalty awarded to the Griffins saw Lute Maja stepping up and converting the penalty kick to even up the score as both teams headed into halftime.

Despite their best efforts, the Griffins were outshot 12-3 in the game, with California State University Monterey Bay also holding a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. The match proved to be a physical encounter, with a total of 28 fouls committed by both teams.

With their non-conference schedule concluded, the Griffins are now turning their focus to conference play. They will host the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on Wednesday night at Dumke Field, with the kickoff slated for 7:00 PM. Fans who can't attend the game in person can catch the action on the RMAC Network.
