Grand Junction, CO - Once again, it was the Westminster Men's Lacrosse team taking on the Colorado Mesa Men's Lacrosse team in the RMAC championship, in the past, the team that plays on their home field in the title game has lost that game, but on Community Hospital Unity Field it was the Mavericks who ended that streak and knocked off the Griffins 21-16 to reclaim their RMAC Championship for the second straight year.
On the night that Griffins were outshot on the stat sheet 64-30,
Jacob Miller stood tall in goal for the Griffins who stopped 17 shots in the cage as he was a big part of Griffin's keys to success all year long, Luke Stilstrop and
Joseph Celentano each added three goals each in the loss as they led the team in goals scored.
A slow start on the scoreboard to being the game saw the Griffins trail early 7-3 after the first 15 minutes of play, but a strong second and third quarter where they added five goals in each frame helped the Griffins close the gap heading into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
It was a great season for the Griffins which added multiple awards. Head Coach
Joe Kerwin was named coach of the Year after leading the Griffins to the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with a 4-2 conference record. Griffins also were awarded RMAC Co-attacker of the Year with Merrit McMahon, Co-Defender of the Year with Tim McGuire, Goalie of the Year with
