Indianapolis, IN - The Westminster men's lacrosse team opened up their 2023 season in a road match vs. #8
University of Indianapolis in a 15-11 opening season loss.
The Griffins went on the road and took on one of the top teams in the nation (8th in the country) and held their ground on their turf.
Joseph Celentano found the back of the net for the first goal of the game and the season as the Griffins took the early lead, but back-to-back goals by Greyhounds helped gain their first lead of the game.
Two more goals by Celentano and a lone goal by Luke Stilstrop in the first quarter and a total of three more goals in the second quarter saw the Griffins lead at halftime.
The Greyhounds found a way to score three goals in the third quarter which evened up the game heading into the fourth, despite a back and fourth quarters, the
University of Indianapolis scored the final three goals to defeat a pesky Griffins team at home.
Westminster will return to Utah for a scrimmage with UVU before resuming their regular season play.
