Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Griffins collect conference road win over Grizzlies

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Westminster men's basketball connected on three first-half three-pointers and led by 8 at halftime in a 76-67 win over Adams State on Friday night at the Plachy Hall.

The win snaps a two-game losing skid of the Griffins and was their first road win of the road trip.

Despite an early surge for the Grizzlies who started the game leading 11-4 after the opening tip, it was the Griffins who evened the score up at 14-14 at 14:10 in the first half and they never looked back as they led 43-35 at halftime.

Westminster went 17-of-28 (61 percent) from the floor in the opening half and knocked down 3-6 three-point shots as they entered the locker room leading.

The Griffins ended the night 14-of-26 at the free throw line as Trey Farrer made a team-high five of them which added to his team-high in points 21 and Taylor Miller was the other Griffin with 20 points as he pulled down four rebounds, three assists, and one block in the win, 76-67.
Donaval Avila grabbed seven rebounds and was the third scorer in double figures ending his night with 14 points.

Westminster, 5-7 this season in conference play, snaps a two-game losing streak vs the Grizzlies after last year's tough double-overtime loss (101-96) to improve their place in the RMAC standings.
For the Grizzlies, Kolby Walker was hard to stop at times on the floor as he made four three-pointers on the night and was 8-9 from the free-throw line as was the leading scorer with 22 and Isaiah Sampson was the other threat from beyond the arch adding three more threes of his own and 15 points.

The Griffins will end their four-game trip tomorrow night with Fort Lewis College as they will look to add another conference road win. The game will be available to view for free on the RMAC Network (rmacnetwork.com) or on the RMAC Network streaming app.
