Spearfish, SD - On Saturday night, the Westminster Griffins Women's Basketball team played inside
Donald E. Young Center as they took on #7
Black Hills State University (S.D.) despite a strong second half with 31 points which was led by
Margarita Satini who had 17 points and one steal, but it wasn't enough as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Griffins 58-54.
It was a slow start by the Westminster Griffins who only saw eight points on the scoreboard after the first quarter came to an end, as the top-ranked team in South Dakota came out with intenisty on the defensive end to hold the Griffins to single digits and take the early advantage that made Westminster play catchup.
The Griffins outscored Black Hills State in two of the four quarters of play as
Lyndzi Rich added 12 points and five rebounds and
Mailey Ballard was the third player in double figures on the stat sheet as the night concluded with 11 points of her own in the loss.
