ALAMOSA, Colo. - Westminster women's basketball saw Adams State cap off an eight-point advantage to end the third quarter as the Grizzlies never looked back despite a late surge in the fourth by the Griffins, the Grizzlies held on to the lead from the third quarter to finish to win 70-55 on Friday night at Plachy Hall.
Ashley Greenwood fell three boards shy of another double-double on the season, and she ended the night as the team's leading scorer with 20 points, including four three-pointers, while
Lyndzi Rich added 10 points and eight rebounds, and a pair of blocks and steals in the loss.
The Griffins had 10 assists as a team on the night and caused the Grizzlies to turn the ball over 14 times on the defensive end, but the Griffins couldn't take care of the ball with 28 turnovers of their own by the pesky defense of Adams State.
Westminster and Adams State each made five shots from behind the arc in the first half as the Grizzlies edged out a one-point lead going into the second half. ASU finished the night off 7-of-16 long range and held Westminster to just 7-of- 21 shooting in the 15-point defeat.
Harmanie Dominguez led the Grizzlies in scoring on the night with 18 points and added three blocks as five other ASU players scored double-digits on the night including Angelline Nageak who nearly had a double-double with 14 points and eight steals.
Westminster will continue its four-game road trip tomorrow night with Fort Lewis College at 5:00 P.M. at
Whalen Gymnasium in Durango, CO. The game will be broadcasted on the RMAC Network.
