Rapid City, SD - As the game saw the clock start slowly ticking away the Westminster Griffins hit a late three-point shot, but as the time expired it wasn't enough as the Hardrockers of South Dakota Mines snapped the Griffin's winning streak on Friday night 69-70 loss for Westminster Women's Basketball team.
The fourth quarter was must see basketball as both teams took and lost the lead, after a tie game after three quarters of action it was the Hardrockers who came away with the early advantage as the quarter began. A
Lyndzi Rich jumper evened the score with eight minutes and some change on the clock and moments later a
Teuila Nawahine hits a big time three point shot that put the Griffins on top in the fourth quarter of play. It wasn't until five minutes that we saw the scored tied again and with bucks by Magan Alexander and Nawahine kept the score from going up by two and tied late in the game.
What changed the game down the stretch were free throws made by South Dakota mines who hit nine of them to secure the win on their home floor.
Greenwood was the leading scorer on the night for the Griffins ending the night with 17 points for the former defensive player of the week in the RMAC and right behind her was Rich who ended the night with 18 points.
