Azusa, CA - The first game of the season can be very exciting, and tonight was a roller coaster type of game on
Cougar Soccer Complex as the season opener saw
Azusa Pacific University defeat the Westminster Griffins 4-3 to open up the 2022 season.
Westminster saw
Din Huremovic, score two goals in defeat as his first goal of 2022 were Assisted by
Armin Hasanovic in the 73 minutes and his second came off a Penalty kick which saw the lead shrink to one goal, but in the 88th minute, two goals were scored one by Azusa Pacific and the other by
Armin Hasanovic and the comeback attempt came to an end.
It only took four minutes into the contest for the Azusa Pacific University to take the early lead and it was the first of three goals in the first have of play. The Griffins weren't fazed as in the second half they returned to the field after halftime and scored three goals of their own, but a late goal by the home team squashed Griffin's chance for a comeback victory in a 4-3 loss.
