Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Griffins Start Slow, Fall at 13th-Ranked Rollins

Westminster had four goals and 10 shots on net in the fourth, but could not overcome a double-digit, second-half deficit on the road No. 13 Rollins College.

WINTER PARK, Fla. - Merritt McMahon had three goals and Gavin Beilman had 12 saves in the cage but Westminster men's lacrosse (1-2, 0-1 RMAC) fell, 19-11, to No. 13 Rollins CollegeĀ (6-0) on Wednesday night.

The Tars came out strong, scoring two quick goals in the first two and a half minutes of the first quarter.Ā  Easton Albert answered quickly with the Griffins' first goal of the game but Rollins poured in the early shots and jumped out to a 7-2 lead early in the second quarter.

Rollins finished with a 33-10 edge in total shots and a 15-8 leada in shots on goal as the Tars poured in another five goals before the break to take a 12-4 lead into the locker room.Ā  The Tars again stole early momentum to start the third, scoring the first three of the third quarter.

Westminster responded with a quick run of three-straight goals from Zennon LaForce, McMahon, and Jacob Pickett, respectively, but the Tars responded with another three unanswered of their own.

The Griffins offense led the way in the fourth quarter to close the final gap but Rollins held onto its double-digit cushion to begin the final frame in its sixth-straight win to start the season.

Westminster will face short rest as it gets set to take on Emmanuel College (Ga.) tomorrow night, beginning at 6 p.m. (MDT).
