Last-Second Three Lifts Griffins to Overtime Win at CSU Pueblo

Sarah McGinley nailed a long-range three with less than one second to play in overtime.

PUEBLO, Colo. - Sarah McGinley hit a go-ahead three with less than one second to play in regulation to help lift Westminster women's basketball (13-6, 12-3 RMAC) to a 70-69 win over CSU Pueblo (18-6, 14-4 RMAC) on Friday night at Massari Arena.

Hunter Krebs led the Griffins with 22 points and nine boards while Ashley Greenwood had 19 points including a game-tying driving layup off of the glass with just 15 seconds to play in regulation.  McGinley finished with 17 points and connected on three from behind the arc including the final dagger to give Westminster its first overtime win of the season.

Westminster snapped a four-game CSU Pueblo winning streak with the win.  The Griffins also split the season series with CSU Pueblo after the Pack stole a road win back in Dec.  Westminster has now won five of the last six against CSU Pueblo including three straight at Massari Arena.

CSU Pueblo began the week with the third-most three's made per game (7.0) but were held to just 2-of-9 from long range in the first half as the Griffins edged out a two-point halftime lead.  Abby Mangum and Hunter Krebs each went 3-of-3 from the floor in the first half.

Krebs came out of the break with 10 points in the third quarter after knocking down three trey's in the period but CSU Pueblo found its shooting stroke and knocked down 4-of-6 three's in the third to help build a 42-39 advantage going into the fourth.

The Griffins trailed by four with less than a minute to play in regulation when Ashley Greenwood scored on a drive to the left block and converted on an and-one to trim the CSU Pueblo lead to one.  Greenwood went back to the exact same spot with only 15 ticks on the clock and scored again send the the game into overtime at 58-58.

The pair of McGinley and Greenwood went 4-of-5 in the overtime but it was McGinley with the heroics as she knocked down a jumper to trim the Pack's lead to one before nailing the game-winning three from the left wing with less than one second to play in overtime.

The Griffins will look to make it a 2-0 road trip tomorrow as the travel to Alamosa, Colo., to play Adams State beginning at 5:30 p.m.
