Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Griffins Fall at CSU Pueblo

Three Griffins scored in double figures as Westminster men's basketball fell on the road at CSU Pueblo.

PUEBLO, Colo. - Yusuf Mohamed had 18 points off of the bench but Westminster men's basketball (9-14, 7-10 RMAC) fell, 72-62, to CSU Pueblo (10-14, 7-11 RMAC) on Friday night at Massari Arena.

Westminster had just six turnovers on the night and owned a 17-7 advantage in points off of turnovers but the Pack finished 25-of-41 (61 percent) from the floor with 14 team assists. Mohamed went a perfect 8-of-8 at the free throw line to lead in the Griffins in scoring while Brayden Johnson had 12 points to go along with six rebounds.  Three of his six boards came on the offensive end while teammates Donaval Avila and Lewis Johnson also added three rebounds each on the offensive glass.

Westminster finished with a season-high 15 offensive rebounds as a team but the two teams finished even in rebounding with 31 total boards apiece.

The Griffins suffered from a slow shooting night, finishing just 23-of-67 (34 percent) overall and just 3-of-22 from long range while the Thunderwolves went 9-of-16 (56 percent) for the game.

Westminster led for 7:01 during the first half and trailed by only three at the break, but a 9-2 run to begin the second gave CSU Pueblo its first double-digit lead of the game and CSU Pueblo later went up by a game-high 14 points after a made three-pointer and dunk from Isaiah Thompson on back-to-back trips down the court.

The Griffins will continue to battle for postseason positioning within the RMAC's performance index rankings as they head to Alamosa, Colo., to take on Adams State tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
