Salt Lake City, UT - Westminster Senior
Ashley Greenwood, drained three, three-point shots on the night to be the Griffins leading scorer with 21 points, but 20 free-throws made by the Orediggers on Saturday nights helped Colorado School of Mines to take the 76-66 victory in Utah.
On a night after capturing their first conference win of the year, the Griffins saw a tough shooting night from beyond the arc as they shot 8-21 from downtown.
The Orediggers started the game out fast and took the early lead with a 25-first-quarter advantage, but a surge by the Griffins in the second quarter helped draw the game closer with a 22-15 advantage to end the first half of action.
The third quarter was the difference of the game as it was School of Mines who shot the ball 6-17 from the field and added two three-pointers in the quarters, as the Griffins made a total of three field goals and that's where the Orediggers took advantage which included seven offensive rebounds that added second chance points for the visiting team.
The Griffins had a tough time taking care of the ball on the offensive end at times during the game where the Orediggers caused 22 turnovers in their victory and now the Griffins will look to shake off this game as they prepare for their first conference road games coming up next weekend.
Lyndzi Rich added 14 points on the offensive side of the floor as
Teuila Nawahine added a total of three, three-point shots on the night and ended with 12 points as a total of three Griffins had double-figures on the stat sheet.
