Azusa, CA - Beth Means scored a team-high 21 points as she was one of three Westminster Griffins in double-figures, but a strong fourth-quarter push by
Azusa Pacific University held the Griffins to 11 points in the fourth quarter and sent Westminster back to Utah with back-to-back losses in the AZUSA PACIFIC THANKSGIVING CLASSIC this weekend.
It was the second straight day in Azusa, CA for the Westminster Women's Basketball team after a near comeback yesterday. It was the first half of the play that saw both teams go back and forth on the scoreboard. Rae Falatea was the leading scorer who added four three-pointers for the Griffins and 12 points as Westminster was 7-13 from long distance at halftime.
Ashley Greenwood added two of those three-point shots and ended the half with 10 points as the Griffins and
Azusa Pacific University ended the half at 45-45.
After a three quarter of scoring 17 points for Westminster, it was a slow start to the fourth with great defense by the home team that caused issues for the Griffins who couldn't find a way to score, but the Griffins out-shot the home team from downtown which kept the game close with 11 combined threes on the night.
Greenwood ended her night with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists, and after being the team leader at the half, it was Falatea who ended the night with 12 points, four assists, and two steals in the loss.
