Salt Lake City, UT - It was a Sunday afternoon contest on the campus of Westminster College as the Westminster Griffins welcomed the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis on Dumke Field as it was a showdown between two RMAC teams battling for points in the conference standings as it came down to a late penalty kick on the Skyhawks that saw
Cassidy Orr seal the game winning goal in the 2-1 victory.
"Solid performance today and proud of the team to finish strong. We were excellent defensively all over the field and it's something we pride ourselves on," said head coach
Tony LeBlanc. "Offense was strong all day as well and glad we could finish a complete performance with a win."
The first half of action was fast and furious as each team scored one goal each in a minute within in each other, as it was the Skyhawks who scored the first goal and it was the Griffins
Alivia Preston who got the great pass from
Cassidy Orr who evened up the score late in the 17th minute of play.
No one else scored as the teams went into the halftime break evened at 1-1 after 45 minutes came to a close.
Standing tall once again as she's done all year in goal was
Kelsea Cracroft who stopped some key shots by Fort Lewis and notches another win on her season in goal for the Westminster Griffins.
UP NEXT: The Griffins will head to South Dakota for a matchup with Black Hills State University on Friday evening with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 PM MDT.
