Tacoma, WA - This weekend the Westminster women's cross country team traveled to Tacoma, Washington to compete in NCAA D2 pre-nationals with thirty teams from across the country who made the trip and appearance, including multiple nationally ranked teams.
The Griffins were led by,
Courtney McAlindon to a 6th place overall team score, who crossed the finish line in 12th individually in 21.27.6.
Saydi Anderson came through in 26th for the griffins with a time of 21:53.4. Close behind came
Amanda Lee and
Hannah Rohrer-Fitzhugh in 33rd and 57th with times of 22:06.8 and 22:40.4 respectively. Rounding out the Griffins of Westminster were
Emily Worline and
Josii Johnson in 95th and 103rd in 23:24.8 and 23:35. The entire team finished in the top half of the 230 participants in the field.
The Griffins had a strong showing, with a team total of 223 points. The team beat Western Washington University (242 points), which ranks 29th nationally, and finished close behind Chico State (194 points), currently ranked 12th.
The Men's and Women's teams will now travel to Durango, Colorado for the RMAC conference championships on November 5th and will look to continue their impressive season and look to keep their momentum rolling as they enter post-season competition.
