SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster men's basketball (5-8, 3-4 RMAC) looks to snap a four-game losing skid this weekend as it travels to Chadron, Neb., to play at Chadron State (6-9, 2-5 RMAC) on Saturday night tipping off at 6 p.m. (MDT).

- Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases within Salt Lake County, Westminster College will also temporarily suspend spectator attendance for Westminster's scheduled home men's and women's basketball games.
- No fans or spectators will be permitted into Behnken Field House for the Griffins' upcoming home games against Colorado Christian on Jan. 14 and vs. MSU Denver on Jan. 15.

- Westminster looks to snap a four-game losing skid and heads into the weekend off of an 0-2 New Year's road trip at N.M. Highlands and UC-Colorado Springs.
- The Griffins gave up a late three in their 68-64 New Year's Eve loss at N.M. Highlands and were unable to keep pace with UC-Colorado Springs' 16 made three's the following day in an 89-59 loss in Colorado Springs.
- Westminster owns the second-best rebounding margin (+5.5) in the conference and its 36.1 rpg are the third-most in the RMAC.
- Yusuf Mohamed has led the Griffins in scoring six times so far this season including a team-high 16 in last Saturday's loss at UCCS.

- The Griffins are 3-4 in conference play heading into the second week of the new year and are in a three-way tie for eighth in the RMAC standings going into the weekend.
- Westminster had its best conference finish last season since becoming postseason eligible, going 9-10 on an abbreviated conference schedule to finish 7th in the final standings.
-  The Griffins have had all-conference performers each of the past five seasons.  Matt Kitzman (honorable mention) and Joey Andrews (second team) earned all-conference honors last season.

- The Eagles have dropped four of their last five RMAC contests with a three-point loss at Colorado School of Mines in their last game on New Year's Eve.
- Chadron State's game at Regis, originally scheduled for last Saturday, was postponed due to RMAC COVID-19 protocols.
- C.J. Jennings is the team's leading scorer at 15.3 ppg while Marcus Jefferson is at 12.3 ppg.
- Jennings has a team-leading 28 made three's on the season while Jefferson and Teddy Parham Jr. are tied for second on the team with 21 made three's each.
- Chadron State has won two of its last three home games with a 61-57 win over N.M. Highlands on Dec. 19 in its last home matchup.

- Westminster is 8-2 all-time against the Eagles and has won eight of the last nine dating back to Feb. 20, 2016.
- The Griffins have six wins by double digits and won the only overtime in the all-time series, a 76-70 win in Chadron, Neb., back in 2017.
- Westminster is 2-2 all-time on the road in Chadron, Neb., and won, 72-57, at home back on Dec. 10.

The Last Time - Westminster vs Chadron State - Dec. 10, 2021:
- The Griffins finished with a 44-24 edge in points in the paint and won, 72-57, in the Behnken Field House back on Fri., Dec. 10.
- Yusuf Mohamed finished with a team-leading 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting despite exiting the game early with a lower leg injury.  Reme Torbert added 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and finished at +17 in the plus/minus column.
- Donaval Avila went 5-of-11 to finish with 11 points and Matt Kitzman pulled in a team-leading seven rebounds on the night.
- Westminster held the Eagles to just 7-of-30 shooting in the first half which included 4-of-18 shooting from behind the arc.  The Griffins led by 16 at the halftime break.
- Westminster forced 20 turnovers and finished with 24 points off of turnovers for the game.

Up Next:
Westminster will return home next weekend to host a pair of RMAC contests but, due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in the area, both games will be closed to the public.  The Griffins will play Colorado Christian on Friday, Jan. 14, and MSU Denver on Saturday, Jan. 15, with both games tipping off at 7 p.m. (MDT).

Westminster College will continue to assess the feasibility of fans for the remainder of the men's and women's basketball season beyond those initial spectator-less dates. Fans will still be able to view games live online via the RMAC Network.
