SALT LAKE CITY - Abby Mangum scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting and Westminster women's basketball (11-5, 10-2) held a second straight opponent to under 35 percent shooting and fewer than 50 points in a 77-46 win over Fort Lewis (2-16, 1-11 RMAC) on Saturday night at Behnken Field House.
Westminster went 33-of-62 (53.2 percent) overall and had 44 points in the paint after and 16 second-chance points off of 12 offensive rebounds as the Griffins dominated the glass and held Fort Lewis scoreless for long stretches. Westminster opened up a double digit lead after just 10 minutes of action and held the Sky Hawks to just two field goals and five points as a team in the second quarter.
The Griffins led by as many as 37 midway through the third and connected on eight three-pointers as team and finished the night with 21 assists a team, only the second 20-assist game of the season for Westminster.
Four Westminster starters finished the night in double figures as
Ashley Greenwood and
Hunter Krebs notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards to go along with a pair of blocks and one steal on defense.
Sarah McGinley also gave Westminster an offensive presence down low with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting while
Lyndzi Rich finished the night without a miss, a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor.
Westminster will be back at home next week as it hosts Colorado Mesa on Tuesday and South Dakota Mines on Thursday, both games tipping-off at 5 p.m.
