SALT LAKE CITY - Reme Torbert finished with a team-high 15 points but Westminster men's basketball (8-11, 6-7 RMAC) gave up a trio of timely three-pointers over the final 3:17 in a 76-67 loss to Western Colorado (5-13, 4-8 RMAAC) on Friday night at Behnken Field House.

Torbert went 3-of-6 from three on the night and Brayden Johnson finished with 11 points and six rebounds, adding a pair of steals and one block on the defensive end.  Yusuf Mohamed had a slow night offensively but still scored in double figures with 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.

Following a three-point Western Colorado advantage at the break to cap of a first period that saw 12 lead changes, both teams traded leads another two times in the second as the game remained in the balance down the stretch.

Matt Kitzman gave Westminster a four-point lead, its largest of the second half, with 11:22 to play in the game before the Mountaineers went on a 9-0 run to jump back in front.

Westminster still was within a possession with under 3:30 to play but an Avery Rembao three at that point set off a stretch of three straight from long range for Western.

The Mountaineers converted at the free throw line over the final minute of regulation to hold off a late Griffins' push.

Westminster will look to bounce back tomorrow night as it hosts Fort Lewis at 7 p.m. back in the Behnken Field House.
