GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Westminster women's cross country finished with the best team score (30) after
Courtney McAlindon (first, 18:39.61),
Saydi Anderson (second, 18:41.06),
Emily Worline (sixth, 19:25.20), and Josi Johnson (seventh, 19:42.93) all finished in the overall top-10 in the women's 5k at the Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede.
Riley McCarter (17th, 31:03.26) finished with the best time for the Westminster in the men's 8k on Saturday at the Lincoln Park Golf Course.
Women's 5K Recap:
Courtney McAlindon continued to set the pace for the Westminster women's team and finished first in the field with a time 18:39.61. McAlindon and teammate,
Saydi Anderson, led all runners at 6:00/mile pace to help the women finish with the best team score (30) at Saturday's invite.
Anderson finished with a time of 18:41.06 as her and McAlindon crossed the finish line more than 20 seconds ahead of the next-closest runner.
Emily Worline was the next Westminster runner to finish the women's 5k, finishing at 19:25.20 (6:15/mile). Josi Johnson also paced under 6:30/mile and finished her race at 19:42.93 with
Abigail McAlindon clocking a 24:13.06 to round out the 5k race for Westminster.
Men's 8K Recap:
Riley McCarter ran the best time for the Westminster men's team and finished 25th overall with a time of 31:03.26 (5:40/mile).
Thomas Maxfield paced at 5:46/mile and finished the 8k at 31:32.95 in 29th overall and
Mack Taylor finished the morning with a time of 32:22.77 (5:55/mile) in 32nd overall.
Up Next:
Westminster men's cross country will have a week off before traveling to Logan, Utah on Fri., Oct. 8 for the Steve T. Reeder Memorial. The women's team will also have a week of rest before traveling to Hays, Kan., to compete in the FHSU Invite.
