Westminster (1-4) fell behind early and was unable to find any offense in a 3-0 defeat at 18th-ranked Midwestern State (5-0) on Thursday night.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Westminster men's soccer (1-4) fell behind on a 16th minute goal and was unable to recover from a two-goal halftime deficit in a 3-0 loss at 18th-ranked Midwestern State (5-0) on Thursday night.  The road match for the Griffins was the first of two matches for Westminster this weekend on the campus of MSU for the MSU Classic at Stang Park.

The Griffins faced nine shots on target from unbeaten No. 18 Midwestern State in a physical contest that saw six total cautions throughout the match.

Westminster saw early chances, finishing the first half with seven total shots towards the MSU net, but fell behind just 16 minutes in as MSU's Carlos Flores scored his fourth goal of the season off of a ball sent into the penalty area by Julian Barajas.

Grayson Ellett scored his first of the year for the Mustangs in the 32nd minute and Mere Escobar also scored his first late to push the Midwestern State lead to 3-0.

Noah Larkin finished the night with six saves after facing 14 MSU shots towards his goal.

The Griffins will be looking forward to another quick bounce-back opportunity on Saturday as they face Texas A&M International at 2 p.m. (MDT).
