DENVER, Colo.—Zach Moss and Skyler Kjellander scored to give the men's soccer team its first season win. The Griffins (1-1-1, 1-0-1 RMAC) defeated MSU Denver 2-1.
The Roadrunners (1-3-0, 1-1-0 RMAC) struck first in the 16th minute off a corner kick. Zach Moss equalized in the 25th minute finished Luke Merrill's cross from the right side. Both goalkeepers made saves in the final two minutes to keep the game level at one a piece.
The Griffins out shot the Roadrunners 5-2 in the second half and scored the game-winner in the 71st minute. Colin Horman sent a low cross through the goal box and Kjellander converted from four yards out.
Westminster had 16 shots, six on goal, and two corner kicks. MSU Denver recorded eight shots, five on goal, and three corner kicks.
Ian Rose started in goal and made four saves, three in the first half and one in the second.
Westminster hosts the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Wednesday, Mar. 31, at 3 pm.
