GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Women's volleyball played its third road game in six days against No. 2 ranked Colorado Mesa. The Griffins (5-10, 3-8 RMAC) lost in three sets (10-25, 11-25, 22-25).
The Mavericks (10-0, 7-0 RMAC) outpaced the Griffins in the first set, recording 14 kills and hitting at a clip of .522. The home team cruised to a second set win after taking control, 11-4, with a 7-1 run.
The Griffins led five times and came close to a third set win. Audrey Green led a 7-3 run with two kills and an ace to take the lead, 19-17. The Griffins held on to the lead for five points until Mesa finished the set with a 6-1 run to wing he match.
Green and Malinda Messner led the Griffins with seven ad six kills, respectively. Bri Mortensen recorded 21 assists and Holland Vande Merwe recorded a team high 10 digs.
Sierra Hunt led the Mavericks with 12 kills and Kerstin Layman recorded 15 digs. Sabrina VanDelist recorded18 assists and Ara Norwood had 15.
Westminster returns home to host No. 4 MSU Denver on Saturday at 1 pm.
