RAPID CITY, S.D.—A slow first half was too much to overcome as the women's basketball team falls to South Dakota School of Mines, 74-73.
 
The Griffins (7-3, 7-3 RMAC) trailed by 11 points at half-time. Westminster shot 7-8 from the free throw line and were 45.5% from the field but were 3-10 from beyond the arc. The Hardrockers shot 56.7% from the field, made 5-8 from three and were 2-2 from the stripe.
 
Westminster shot 71.43% from the field to outscore the home side, 23-17, and reduce the lead to five.
 
Westminster opened the final quarter with a 9-0 run to take the lead. The lead was brief as the Hardrockers went on a 7-0 run to restore their lead.
 
Hunter Krebs shot 8-13 from the field, made 3-6 from three and 5-5 from the stripe to lead the team in scoring. She led the team with two blocks and grabbed five rebounds.
 
Abby Mangum led the team in rebounding with six, scored 11 points and had two assists and three steals.
 
The Griffins return home to play Adams State on Friday, Feb. 12, and CSU-Pueblo on Saturday, Feb. 6.
