SALT LAKE CITY—The Griffins had 12 steals and scored 18 points off turnovers but the basket wouldn't fall through the hoop as the men's basketball team fell to Fort Lewis, 75-56.
The Griffins shot 34.5% from the field, 6-20 from three and 10-14 from the free throw line.
Joey Andrews and
Brayden Johnson reached double-figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Reme Torbert led the team with four steals.
The Skyhawks, led by Riley Farris with 20 points and Brenden Boatwright with 15, shot 58.3% from the field, made 8-20 from three and 11-13 from the stripe.
Fort Lewis had the hot hand in the first half, shooting 68% from the field and 50% from three. The Griffins trailed by 15 at the end of the first half.
The Griffins cut their deficit to single-digits once in the second half.
Reme Torbert scored two threes and a free throw and Johnson scored two layups as the Griffins made an 11-2 run to come within nine points, 48-39, in the opening five minutes of the second half.
