DENVER, Colo.—The Westminster men's basketball team bounced back from last nights defeat to #1 Colorado School of Mines to defeat Regis, 66-56.
Westminster (8-9, 8-9 RMAC) shot 45.7% from the field, 5-11 from three and went 19-27 from the free throw line. Regis (3-9, 3-9 RMAC) shot 41.5% from the field, 6-23 from three and 6-7 from free throws. Westminster's bench provided a boost outscoring the Rangers 39-19.
After trailing for 34 minutes by as much as 18, the Griffins went on a 32-4 run in the final 10 minutes of the game to overtake and defeat the Rangers.
Joey Andrews led with 10 and
Jarrett Jordan and
Taylor Miller both scored seven as the Griffins went 9-12 from the field, 3-4 from three and 11-15 from the charity stripe during the run.
Joey Andrews and
Brandon Willardson led the team with 12 points. Willardson was perfect on the night shooting 6-6 from the field. Andrews led the team with 11 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season.
The Griffins return home to finish the regular season against Fort Lewis (Feb. 26) and Western Colorado (Feb. 27).
