Women's Basketball Climbs To Third With Home Sweep

SALT LAKE CITY—Hunter Krebs scored a season-high 25 points and led the team with six rebounds as the Griffins defeated CSU-Pueblo, 74-64, to complete a home sweep over the weekend.
 
The Griffins shot an impressive 71.4% (10-14) from beyond the arc. Krebs scored went 4-5, Sarah Mcginley and Kaylee Carlsen were 2-2 and Abby Mangum and Lyndzi Rich were 1-2. The team finished 54.9% from the field scoring 28 points in the paint and 15 points off turnovers.
 
The Thunderwolves shot 43.3% from the field and 31.6% (6-19) from three. They scored 36 points in the paint and 14 points off turnovers.
 
CSU-Pueblo scored the opening basket for its only lead in the game. The Griffins went on a 13-3 run for an eight-point lead, shooting 5-of-5, and scoring three threes. The Griffin's lead increased by five through the second quarter and three in the third to reach double-digits.
 
An early 10-2 run briefly reduced Westminster's lead to six. Westminster immediately responded with a 7-0 run to restore its lead over 10 points.
 
Sarah McGinley, Kaylee Carlsen and Mariah Martin scored in double-figures. McGinley was 5-8 from the field and 2-2 from three and free throws for 14 points. She grabbed five rebounds and had four assists. Carlsen scored 10 points shooting 4-6 from the field and 2-2 from three. Martín led the team with six assists and scored 13 points shooting 5-11 from the field and going 3-4 from the stripe.
 
Sydni Williams and Jalen Long led the visitors with 13 and 17 points, respectively. Sydni Williams grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and had two steals.
 
The season is nearing its end with two more weekends of conference games. The Griffins are third in conference standings heading to Colorado School of Mines on Friday and Regis on Saturday this week. They finish at home the following week against Fort Lewis and Regis.
