DURANGO, Colo. - Westminster women's soccer (RV) (5-2-4, 2-2-3 RMAC) held the lions share of first and second-half possession as well as an 8-7 advantage in shots during regulation, but were eventually forced into extra time in a 0-0 draw with Fort Lewis College (3-6-2, 1-4-2 RMAC) on Sunday afternoon at Dirks Field.
Naomi Kehl and
Kelsea Cracroft split time in goal for Westminster and each had three saves to combine for the shutout.
Westminster was credited with just two shots on target over the first 90 minutes and the Griffins had zero shot attempts in the extra time period as both teams battled through the midfield for most of the afternoon.
Sky Hawks' goalkeeper Katlyn Rosenbaum was active coming off her line to stymie the Griffins' attack before it could create any quality chances.
The fourth tie of the season for Westminster makes it three-consecutive Sundays ending in a draw versus an RMAC opponent for the Griffins. As Westminster heads into the back half of its conference schedule, it will look to back-to-back home matches to improve its RMAC Tournament seeding as well as its current eighth-place position in the NCAA Division II South Central Region standings.
Westminster will host Black Hills State on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by Colorado Christian next Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
