Women's Basketball Split 1-1 At Home

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SALT LAKE CITY—The women's basketball team extended its win streak to five games with a win over Regis on Friday. Colorado School of Mines defeated the Griffins to end the run Saturday.

With a season-low 11 three-point attempts, the Griffins overpowered the Rangers, underneath the basket, outscoring the visitors 42-20 in the paint.
 
Westminster shot 44.4% from the field, made 4-11 from three and was 9-11 from the stripe with four scoring double-digits. The team recorded 39 rebounds, 11 assists and six blocked shots and steals.
 
Hunter Krebs led the team with 19 points shooting 70% from the field, making 2-3 from three and 3-3 from the stripe. Krebs grabbed six rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot.
 
Mariah Martín scored 14 and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. She had two steals and an assist.
 
Sarah McGinley scored 13 and recorded a team high seven rebounds. She also recorded three assists, one steal and one blocked shot.
 
Abby Mangum recorded a season and team-high four blocked shots and a team-high five assists.
 
Saturday vs Colorado School of Mines
Rebounding and season-high turnovers was key in the Orediggers win over the Griffins Saturday night. Westminster turned the ball over 17 times and Mines grabbed 20 offensive rebounds for 19 more attempts, 65-49.
 
The Griffins were better shooters—shooting 42.2% from the field and 35.7 from three to the Orediggers 29.7% from the field and 27.8% from three.
 
Lyndzi Rich and McGinley led the team with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Rich also led the team with eight rebounds and a season-high four blocked shots.
 
The Griffins take to the road for the next two weeks with trips to conference leaders Western Colorado on Friday, Jan. 29, then Fort Lewis on Saturday, Jan. 30, Colorado Mesa on Tuesday, Feb. 2, and finishing at South Dakota Mines on Saturday, Feb. 6.
