DENVER, Colo.—Westminster women's basketball improves to 3-1 after winning a nail biter on the road at MSU Denver. With six lead changes in the final two minutes,
Kaylee Carlsen beat the clock from just inside the left corner to win, 76-75.
Westminster led by six going into the fourth quarter. The Griffins played the final five minutes of the game without their top two scorers,
Lyndzi Rich and
Sarah McGinley. Early foul trouble had limited
Lyndzi Rich, the Griffins' leading scorer, to seven minutes in the game. Rich fouled out with 7:45 remaining and McGinley drew her fifth with 4:57 left.
MSU Denver made a 14-5 run to tie the game at 66 with 2:50 left to play.
Whitney Banz hit a left-corner three to give the Griffins the lead back. Maggie Justinak answered in kind for MSUD to tie it back up.
Abby Mangum put Westminster back in front with a free throw. A one-point lead went back forth with both teams scoring two points every possession through the final minute.
Hunter Krebs scored a pair of important layups in Westminster's next two possessions.

Mariah Martin who dished it out to Carlsen in the left corner. Carlsen took a step inside and fired to beat the buzzer. The ball rolled around the rim once before bouncing off the backboard and falling in to seal the win.
"Great scoring game by Hunter tonight"
Shelley Jarrard said. "She got great looks at the rim and was on from three point."
"We needed a perimeter back up… to come in and help us. Banz was solid and hit a huge three for us near the end of the game."
"Mariah and Kaylee had 13 assists together and only on turnover between them."
Krebs scored a season-high 25 points to lead the team and all scorers. She shot 10-12 from the field, making 3-5 from three, and shooting 2-2 from the stripe. She grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and recorded three blocked shots.
McGinley was second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 12 points and seven rebounds. McGinley shot 7-11 from the field and made 1-4 from three.
Abby Mangum scored 12 points shotting 4-7 from the field, 1-2 from three and 3-4 from the stripe. She grabbed five rebounds, led the team with two steals and had three assists.
Carlsen and Martín combined for 13-17 assists. Martin had a team-high seven assists with four rebounds and eight points. Carlsen recorded six assists with two steals, one rebound and five points.
