DENVER, Colo.—Westminster's chance for a RMAC tournament spot has become more complicated after its loss to Regis on Saturday. The Griffins are just a game behind New Mexico Highlands in seventh and tied with Regis for the final spot in eighth.
The Griffins battled for control through the first half, exchanging leads three times with the Rangers. Westminster took the first lead and led for the opening five minutes. The lead then bounced back and forth over the next five possessions with the lead finally settling on the Rangers.
Westminster kept home side close and took the lead for a third time on a
Jai Jai Ely three pointer. The Griffins led for a few more minutes until Christian Little put the Rangers back in front.
Jake Connor scored in the paint to tie the game with 26 seconds left in the half. At the buzzer Regis hit from three for the lead into the half.
Regis extended its lead in the second half shooting 9-17 from three while the Griffins struggled to find their range making 4-14 from beyond the arc.
Alec Monson led the Griffins with 16 points. Monson finished 5-8 from the field, 3-6 from three and 3-4 from the stripe.
Jai Jai Ely scored 15 points and
Brandon Warr recorded a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
The Griffins return home to finish the regular season against #13 Dixie State on Friday.
