LAKEWOOD, Colo.—
Alec Monson scored a season and career single game high 32 points against Colorado Christian Friday night. The Cougars had five score in double figures, combining for 71 points, to defeat the Griffins, 85-75.
After five lead changes and three ties, the Griffins entered the half trailing by just two points. The score remained close throughout the half with neither team leading by more than four points.
The second half remained close until CCU jumped out to a twelve-point lead seven minutes left in the game. Monson scored eight points in a 13-5 run to cut the deficit down to four but the Griffins were unable to close the gap any further.
Monson led all scorers with 32 points shooting 11-17 from the field, 3-5 from three and 7-9 from the charity stripe. Monson also led the Griffins with nine rebounds and three blocked shots.
