SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster men's basketball made 10 of its first 12 shots in the second half as part of a 42-7 run as the Griffins coasted to a 90-62 victory over Adams State on Saturday night at Behnken Field House.
Joonas Tahvanainen had another big night for Westminster, posting a double-double with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Brandon Warr added 16 points and eight rebounds. Alex Monson also recorded a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
The Griffins (16-9, 11-8 RMAC) built a lead that grew to as much as 39 points behind a great shooting performance. With 11 minutes left in the game, Westminster had made 13 three-point baskets at a 54 percent clip and were shooting just over 60 percent overall.
Westminster outrebounded Adams State 51 to 27 and recorded 26 assists to just nine for the Grizzlies.
Westminster hits the road next weekend against Colorado Christian on Friday, Feb. 21, and Regis on Saturday, Feb. 22. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m. MT and will be streamed on the
RMAC Network.
